Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) nurse position located in a high-acuity, Level I Trauma Center with Magnet designation. The role involves providing surgical nursing care in a busy hospital environment, supporting a variety of surgical specialties including cardiovascular, vascular, neuro, ortho, robotics, and more. The position offers a diverse caseload, with an emphasis on adult patients and a smaller pediatric component, requiring adaptability and strong surgical skills.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Shifts vary across multiple times, including 10-hour shifts, with coverage from early mornings to late evenings. A six-week rotating schedule is expected, with shifts from M-Thurs 8/10-hour shifts, and weekend coverage every 4th weekend (Saturday and Sunday).
• Required Qualifications: Valid license in the state, current BLS and ACLS certifications, at least 2-3 years of acute care experience (or 3 years of hybrid experience for Hybrid IR Tech), and experience with EPIC electronic medical record system.
• Preferred Qualifications: Critical care or trauma experience at a Level I or Level II facility, familiarity with Siemens equipment, and certification such as CST or ARR.
• Additional Information: The role involves working in a 28-bed unit with hybrid rooms seen between 5-10 cases per day, mostly adult cases with some pediatric cases. The department supports Gifts of Hope cases. No on-call or holiday coverage is specified beyond regular scheduled shifts. Orientation includes meet-and-greet sessions, online modules, and unit-specific training.
• Support within the Department: No patient assignment for charge nurses; staff may assist on weekends and evenings. Bedside monitoring by anesthesiologists, resource nurses, surgeons, and educators is available. The OR operates 24/7, with skeleton crew after hours and weekends for trauma and urgent cases.
